Interdisciplinary Programs

In keeping with the philosophy that integration of knowledge is as important as proficiency in a given field, the College of Arts and Sciences has combined the resources of several departments to offer a series of interdisciplinary majors and minors. These programs include Africana studies, American studies, Asian studies, cinema studies, comparative literature, environmental studies, global studies, Judaic studies, Latin American studies, linguistics, medieval studies, and women’s studies.  The chairs of the College's Interdisciplinary Programs are listed below.

To declare a major in one of the College's Interdisciplinary Programs, students should visit Arts and Sciences Advising Services in room 1 of Alumni Memorial Building.  (Students cannot major in Cinema Studies, as this program only offers a minor.)

This program was discontinued in academic year 2008-2009. Students using Undergraduate Catalogs from earlier academic years who want to pursue a major in Interdisciplinary Programs with a concentration in Legal Studies should contact Dr. Hinde in the College of Arts & Sciences office.

The College has approved a list of course substitutions that can be used to satisfy the "Historical and Global Dynamics" requirement of the Legal Studies program.
