Minors
Minors are optional and consist of 15-28 credit hours in 200-level or above courses. Students must complete at least 6 of the 15 required credit hours at UT. (Individual departments may have stricter requirements.) Minors are available in most departments or programs which offer majors, and also in Business Administration, Portuguese, and Cinema Studies. Minors may be developed in other colleges or schools of the University, but must be approved by the appropriate departments and by the Director for Student Academic Affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences.
When students apply for graduation, single or multiple minors may be recorded on their academic record without regard to course overlap among all the above requirements. It is also permissible for students to satisfy degree requirements in a college other than Arts and Sciences and, with the approval of the degree-granting unit, also minor in the College of Arts and Sciences.
