Dear Graduates,
Many of you have contacted me with questions about a summer ceremony or because you have wondered why you are receiving e-mails also intended for spring graduates.
To clarify: The University of Tennessee, Knoxville does not hold commencement in the summer. Summer graduates who would like to participate in commencement may choose to do so one semester early in the College's spring ceremony or one semester late in the University's fall ceremony.
Summer graduates who will graduate with honors and participate in the spring ceremony should check out http://www.artsci.utk.edu/commencement/ceremony.asp. A section has been added today explaining how you will be deemed eligible for an honor cord since your circumstances (walking one semester early) differ from the spring graduates. Summer graduates who will graduate with honors but will participate in the December ceremony will receive further information in the fall.
