"Bridging our college and the community"

Our staff assists faculty with the development of broader impact statements for grant proposals.  We also facilitate faculty and student collaboration with P-12 schools and other community organizations.  In addition, our office coordinates faculty and graduate student contributions to teacher professional development workshops in disciplines such as language arts, social studies, mathematics, art, music, and sciences.

The OAO oversees multiple programs on behalf of the college, including the Service Learning Program, the Tennessee Science Olympiad State Tournament, the Tennessee Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, the Pre-Collegiate Research Scholars Program, and other programs under the administrative umbrella of the Collaborative for Enhancing Education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (CEESTEM). 

In addition to the programs based in the OAO, the office provides both staff and financial support to outreach programs and initiatives led by individual faculty and departments and schools as resources permit.
