* Alexis Perkins is a 2006 graduate of the College Scholars Program in the College of Arts and Sciences at UT Knoxville, whose focus was in Computational and Mathematical Ecology directed by Dr. Louis Gross and Dr. Susan Riechert (Professor, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology). Alex is from Elizabethton, Tennessee, who is currently in the Ph.D. program in one of the world's top rated programs in ecology at the University of California, Davis, and is the holder of a prestigious Department of Energy Computational Sciences Graduate Fellowship. He is visiting Oak Ridge National Laboratory and NIMBios this fall as part of his Fellowship. Dr. Gross said, “I am very, very proud to have been involved in Alex’s education; he is a fine example of interdisciplinary education at UT Knoxville.”
