A Multidisciplinary Exploration

A two-day program on Gordon Hirabayashi and the legacies of the Japanese removal and incarceration which will be held at the University of Tennessee on January 15-16, 2009.  This event, sponsored by an unusually broad community-university partnership, features a two-day symposium on the history of the Japanese removal and incarceration and the legal and constitutional legacies of the Hirabayashi case.  The symposium is augmented by two staged readings of the one-man play, “Dawn’s Light: The Journey of Gordon Hirabayashi,” by Jeanne Sakata. This multidisciplinary event will highlight the continuing relevance of the Hirabayashi story.
